Today – 2009 – slave trade and slavery are illegal.
BUT ...Today - 2009 – an estimated 27 million people are held in slavery.
Today the main battle is not a legal one – slavery is already illegal.A
major root cause to today"s slavery – human trafficking – is
unemployment:
- It makes people vulnerable for traffickers.
- It creates high risk areas for trafficking. Thus business entrepreneurs hold some strategic keys to prevention of human trafficking.
PS. Just returned to Stockholm after a four day conference in Barcelona. Off to London tomorrow morning for meetings on the mission of business and human trafficking.
